Where To Shop

Our first priority, naturally. We took the beautiful two-hour drive up the Taconic parkway to Millerton, New York. The town’s main street is a goldmine of antique shops. We started at the Millerton Antiques Center, a sprawling floor plan with dozens of vendors. Well-priced, with so many hidden gems.

Just next door, Cottage+Camp was our second stop. The selection is small, well-curated and elevated. A good stop for beautifully-restored accent pieces. Next, we visited our favorite on the list — Montage. The collection is at once eclectic and unified, a mix of 18th century French furniture, mid-century modern artwork and more.

On the recommendation of Montage’s manager, we took a 15-minute drive to Salisbury, Connecticut to the shop’s “Annex” location. Items from France, Belgium and the Netherlands, offered at wholesale prices. Their collection of Hungarian dishware is to die for.

We stumbled into Johnnycake Books by happy accident. This place is the stuff of dreams. Wall to wall, floor to ceiling with beautiful, artful, leather-bound classics and one-of-a-kind antique cookbooks. They have an early edition signed by Truman Capote, too, if you have $1,200 to spare.

Where To Eat:

We had a delicious, easy lunch at Oakhurst Diner — with the entire town of Millerton. This place is a favorite local stop with something for everyone on the menu, from enchiladas to pho. They also boast a full selection of Harney & Sons teas. The flagship store is just down the street!

We took this trip to celebrate six months of Jessie’s Substack, Jessie Loves, with a special dinner at Stissing House. We spent the rest of the day setting up for a beautiful event in the most LR restaurant ever.

Surrounded by fresh floral arrangements by English Garden Grown and candlelight in every corner, we started the night with a flower painting class led by Helen Dealtry. She’s an incredibly talented artist and the warmest, kindest person. She offers classes in her studio semi-annually — sign up!

Finally, we sat down to a delicious dinner. Koginut squash and farro, roasted carrots, baked macaroni and cheese, braised greens, slow-roasted chicken and the most delicious sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

What To Wear

We bundled up in the latest from our new collection. Our latest Liz fleece, new Alistair cardigan in both grey and green. Gemma mules are a must, and we loved wearing our new Minnie boat shoes, too.
