Suffolk Seaside & Something Blue
Malak & Mike
Having been raised by the ocean, Malak returned to the seaside for her dream-come-true wedding in the groom's family home. Backed by Suffolk's coastline, the bride said I do in a custom-made dress and satin shoes she'd chosen as her "something blue," a picture perfect scene right down to the surprise musical performance of "Oliver" — read on as Malak shares every detail behind her day now.

“I knew I wanted my shoes to be my something blue, and the Malia heel was absolutely perfect. It’s the ideal blend of timeless and modern, and the blue satin was such a perfect shade. Most importantly, they were incredibly comfortable to wear throughout the day. My maid of honour, Helen, also wore them in silver, and I loved them so much that I’ve since purchased them in gold as well!”
“My wedding dress and veil were custom made by the incredibly talented Emma Beaumont, and my second dress was by Solace London. Collaborating with Emma was one of the highlights of the wedding planning process. She is knowledgeable and creative, and she genuinely listens to what’s important to you. I envisioned something quite clean and modern in an Australian style from the front, complemented by a more traditional train and veil as a nod to British wedding style. Emma and her team truly nailed the brief!”
“We got married at Mike’s family home in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, which holds a special place in our hearts. Mike grew up holidaying there, and we spent lockdown there early on in our relationship. For me, being from Western Australia, it was also particularly meaningful to be by the seaside.”
“For the ceremony, Mike’s sister, Pippa, served as our celebrant, presiding over the most perfect and heartfelt ceremony. Instead of a hymn, guests sang ‘Truly Madly Deeply’ by Savage Garden, an Australian band, which was a real highlight.
“For the reception, the food was particularly important to us and we were delighted with the sensational cuisine by caterers Doggart and Squash, which beautifully fused Australian, British, and Middle Eastern flavors — not an easy brief! Our florist, Ash from Rooted by Rosemary, designed the most spectacular arrangements, inspired by the pastel palette of the coastal houses in Aldeburgh.”
“It was really important to us both that the day felt personal, celebrating not only our love but also our community."
“It may sound cliché, but find vendors you genuinely enjoy working with and who you connect with. Once you've chosen them, give them the space to work their magic. We felt like we had the absolute A-team throughout the weekend, who were incredibly generous with their time and expertise, and such a pleasure to deal with!
“Every vendor — from our caterers (Doggart and Squash) to the marquee team (Great Events), our florist (Rooted by Rosemary), decor hire from (Array), makeup artist (Kerry White) and photographer (Alex Wysocki) — went above and beyond to ensure we had the best day possible.”
“Another highlight was a surprise musical performance of ‘Oliver’ — one of our favorite musicals—by our friend Angus and Mike’s mum, Nicky, which absolutely delighted our guests.”
“Again, it’s a huge cliché, but having everyone together from around the world in one of our favorite spots was more special than we could have ever imagined."
