LOVE SONG
Olivia & Finn
Both graduates of the Royal Academy of Music, Olivia and Finn crafted their ceremony like a symphony. An opera singer and conductor by trade, the bride and groom infused their perfect day with notes of their personal love story, holding their dream wedding at Lincoln Cathedral, where the bride grew up as a chorister. Read on for Olivia’s story behind her Lincolnshire wedding now.

"Lincoln Cathedral holds a very special place in my heart. I grew up in Lincolnshire, and at age ten became a girl chorister at the Cathedral, singing there 20 hours a week alongside school. It was an extraordinary musical grounding, and the building itself became a sort of second home. It is one of the most extraordinary examples of gothic architecture in Europe, steeped in nearly a thousand years of history. My husband Finn is a conductor and I’m an opera singer — choral music is something we share a deep love for. Having met over 10 years ago whilst studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London, we knew we wanted a ceremony filled with music. We were lucky enough to have a handful of our closest friends perform some of our favourite choral works which was incredibly memorable. We also held a smaller, intimate ceremony and celebration at the seaside in Deal, Kent with our closest family and friends, including Finn’s 99-year-old Granny. Each celebration felt beautifully unique in its own way. "
"The Dahlia heel was absolutely perfect. I was looking for something I’d wear again and again, and I’ve never been drawn to traditional white shoes. The gold was just right: elegant, timeless and fun. I wore them not only with my Cortana gown, but also for our ceremony in Deal where I paired them with a Catherine Deane jumpsuit. They’re so versatile and comfortable, you can wear them with just about anything."

"Honestly, we weren’t the most natural wedding planners! Thankfully, we had my cousin Millie Cowie, founder of The Chuffed Store and CFood, who is just the most brilliant creative mind and organiser. She really helped us hone our vision and bring it to life. She found our amazing florist Fran from Limewood Flowers and My Mum found our reception venue the Tipi’s at Hackthorn Hall. Our family and friends brought so much love and creativity to both events and we couldn’t have done it without them. My biggest tip would be to make the celebrations a true reflection of you both —not just in the big, obvious ways, but in all the little details too. Don’t feel pressured to follow traditions that don’t resonate with you!"
"I’ve always admired Cortana’s designs. At first, I was exploring secondhand options, but when I came across the Lirio gown I completely fell in love. The flowing silk, the gentle golden hue, and the fact that it could be styled a few different ways—it felt effortlessly elegant. As an opera singer, I wanted something timeless that I might even be able to wear again on stage. My beautiful sister-in-law Michela Bruschini works in bridal and was a huge help, especially since I was quite a last-minute bride in many respects! She found a boutique in Milan that could order and tailor the dress in time, which gave us the perfect excuse for a pre-wedding trip to Italy. We also had Finn’s suits made there, so it became a really memorable part of the lead-up to the wedding with my brother, Fred and his wife Michi."
"Being able to share our love with the people we love, all together in one room, was so special."
"There are so many favourite moments to choose from! Arriving at the cathedral and seeing my best friends Fred and Millie, along with our bridesmaids, page boy, and their beautiful mums (my longtime friends Liv and Alexa) was such a joyful start to the day. The excitement was contagious. Walking down the aisle with my dad in the very space where I grew up singing was pretty emotional. Hearing the poetry and music we had carefully chosen together, performed by our friends, was deeply moving. The whole reception was full of laughter and celebration: canapés in a walled flower garden, dinner and dancing in the tipi, and a hilariously rowdy bus ride into town for some late-night dancing. We’d repeat it all in a heartbeat."
"Being able to share our love with the people we love, all together in one room, was so special. The music and poetry in both ceremonies felt incredibly personal and powerful and the speeches were just as moving— full of love, humour, and so much thought. The party side of both events was really important to us. After our first ceremony in Deal, my cousin set up a makeshift cocktail bar on the seafront, we all swam in the sea and danced on the sea wall as the sun set. It was wild and joyful. At the second celebration, we had an amazing DJ who kept everyone on the dance floor with soul, funk, and disco classics, before a hilariously rowdy coach trip into town to keep the party going. More than anything, we’ve come away with a deeper appreciation for celebrating life’s moments — taking the time to mark them and make lasting memories. However big or small, making memories really matters."
