The best of brooklyn
Tanni & Kris
A sunshine-drenched dress, our champagne mules, and a City Hall ceremony in the place they've called home for a decade. Read on for Tanni's story behind her wedding day now
“The planning for the ceremony started two weeks before we got married and I had this idea of wearing a short dress with flats, something nontraditional and playful. I tried on dresses in multiple boutiques and department stores, but nothing really stood out. I ended up at the Nordstrom flagship and was immediately drawn to this colorful, painterly pleated dress by Issey Miyake. I had the best salesperson helping me and knew when I tried it on that it was the one. I texted my best friends and we all agreed 'it was so me.' My jewelry was by Lizzie Fortunato and Fox Fodder Farm made me a bouquet that looked like it was plucked from the flower fields that were on my dress!”
“The Margi fit me so well — and it’s hard to get me in a heel! The champagne color complemented my dress perfectly and the bow detail looked effortlessly put together. I honestly felt like Fun Wedding Barbie. I also love knowing that I will be wearing these shoes again for other occasions."
“We went to City Hall for our domestic partnership in 2020. When we were there, the building was empty, and it just gave us an intimate feel that felt like the perfect way for us to celebrate our marriage. There was no pressure to plan something elaborate and we still were able to get married in front of our closest friends and family in the city we’ve called home for over a decade. Everything sort of fell into place!”
“There were so many special moments from that day but my favorites would have to be our family style dinner at Frankie’s and sipping on margaritas afterwards at Brooklyn Social with our closest friends.”
"I couldn't have imagined getting married any other way."
“I’ll always remember the intimacy of our ceremony and how it was truly the most perfect day. I couldn’t have imagined getting married any other way.”
