Wyresdale park wedding

Sophie & Darren

After a decade of dating, Sophie and Darren tied the knot at Wyresdale Park, mere miles away from the coastal towns in which they grew up. Follow along for Sophie's story behind the day, from pleated heels, to perfect palettes, to the ceremony moments she'll never forget.

"I had a few dresses in mind I had seen previously, but when I went to try them on none of them felt quite right, almost like they were missing something. So after a trip down to London, I was back to the drawing board. I’d always been in love with a dress from Luna Bea, and the more I spoke to Lou, the founder, the more I knew it was right for me.

"I live in northern England and Luna Bea is quite far down south, (a 5-hour train journey!), so we managed to finalise all the details over a very in-depth Zoom call. It didn’t worry me that I hadn’t tried it on beforehand, I had decided on the dress and knew this was the one — I just had a feeling! I wound up with the most stunning gown, made from beautiful silk with a flowing design that was exactly what I was after. It felt ethereal and feminine, but also modern."

"I had always known since first seeing the Camellia heel that they would be the shoe I would wear on my wedding day. They are the most beautiful shoes I have ever owned. It was important to me that my wedding dress had a slit, so that the shoes could have their little moment! When the shoes arrived they were even more stunning in real life, the pleated material is so gorgeous. I will treasure them forever!"

"Myself and Darren both grew up on the North West Coast, if you stand on the beach in my home town you can see Darren’s home town in the distance! so it felt right to get married there. As soon as we viewed the venue we knew it was the perfect place. It’s surrounded by nature — rolling hills, trees, a lake, yurts and lots of sheep!

"The venue had character and felt authentic without being too rustic, with lovely bones that acted as a blank canvas for us to dress to feel like us. There was no question that we had found the right place."

"The ceremony room was such a beautiful space, flooded with natural light and flowers by our amazing supplier Honour Farm Folk. They arranged a mix of dahlias and cosmos in sunset shades, a palette which ran through all elements of the day, from the hand-dyed pink table runners to the rust bridesmaid dresses and the stunning cakes by Sarah & Cake."

"Nothing will be exactly like you imagined, but the day will be magical and beautiful in a way you never expected!"

"I look back on the process of planning in such a nostalgic way now. We mainly chose suppliers from Yorkshire, where we live, and being able to work with such incredible, talented suppliers to curate our perfect day really was such a dream. The images our amazing photographer, India Hobson, took, capturing every moment and detail, was so special to us, echoing the beauty and feel of the day perfectly.

"The main thing I learnt from planning was to try not to overthink and stress the small stuff. Things won’t always go to plan, and nothing will be exactly like you imagined, but the day will be magical and beautiful in a way you never expected!"

"I was so nervous to walk down the aisle, and I wanted the ceremony to be quick as the thought of standing up there for too long was so scary for me. Now, though, we have both said that the ceremony was actually our favourite part of the day by far. Everything else just disappears — it felt like it was just us two and it was the most special moment of my life.

"We worried about the weather all week. It was set to rain on the day and we were a bit gutted, but the day came and it was perfect. Glorious, warm sunshine the whole day — we couldn’t believe it! We took it as a good sign for what’s to come."
